without a hospital stay.

For feet you
no longer need to hide.

What our patients say

Problems with your feet?

01.

You may avoid talking about them. You may not want anyone to see them. Or perhaps they simply hurt.

Maybe your toes are crooked, too long, or misshapen. Perhaps they press against your shoes, rub constantly, and make every step uncomfortable.

02.

And in summer, it can feel even worse. While everyone else wears sandals, you find yourself hiding your feet in closed shoes.

Gradually, you realise how much your feet affect your daily life – what you wear, where you go, and how you feel.

03.

Perhaps you have even undergone surgery before and are still unhappy with the result. Maybe the correction did not feel right, or the appearance became worse rather than better.

It doesn't have to stay that way!
There’s a gentle approach to
foot surgery
today.

When they think of foot surgery, many people immediately think of hospitals, crutches, weeks of downtime, or severe pain.

The good news is that modern foot surgery can be very different.

Füße, mit denen du dich endlich wieder wohlfühlst - ARS PEDIS

Outpatient Treatment Instead of Hospitalisation:

All our treatments can be performed on an outpatient basis. You can return home – or to your hotel – on the very same day as your surgery.

General anaesthesia is often unnecessary

In many cases, local anaesthesia combined with optional sedation (“twilight sleep”) is sufficient.

Back on Your Feet Quickly:

With specialised orthopaedic shoes and insoles, you are usually able to bear weight on your feet again immediately after the procedure.

Effective Pain Management:

You will receive a clear medication plan and detailed aftercare instructions to help keep discomfort to a minimum during recovery.

Corrective Surgery After Previous Procedures:

Even if you have already had foot surgery and are dissatisfied with the result, further correction is often possible.

At ARS PEDIS , our goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident with your feet again.

Outpatient Surgery

You can come in for your procedure and return home – or to your hotel – on the very same day.

Precise Surgical Technique

Using the expertise of a plastic and aesthetic surgeon, incisions are placed as discreetly as possible, often along natural skin folds, to help minimise visible scaring.

Local Anaesthesia and Twilight Sedation

For minor procedures, you can remain awake and relaxed during treatment – even watching your favourite television series if you wish. If preferred, sedation or twilight sleep can also be provided.

Bilateral Procedures

We specialise in performing most procedures on both feet at the same time. This can reduce overall recovery time and help minimise additional costs and downtime.

Rapid Recovery

With specialised orthopaedic shoes and insoles, you are usually able to bear weight on your feet immediately after the procedure.

You will also receive a personalised medication and aftercare plan to help ensure a smooth recover with as little discomfort as possible.

About medical specialist Adrian K. Wiethoff

I’m Adrian K. Wiethoff, a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and certified in foot surgery by Germany’s two leading professional societies D.A.F. and GFFC. This combination of qualifications is exceptionally rare in Germany.

During my specialist training, I gained extensive experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, aesthetic surgery, and burn surgery. I also spent a year training in anaesthetic and intensive care medicine.

In our clinic, we regularly perform forefoot procedures such as bunion and hammertoe surgery. Earlier in my career, I began asking myself why these procedures were often only performed once discomfort had already become significant and the position of the toes had progressively worsened.

Facharzt Adrian K. Wiethoff - ARS PEDIS

Why wait until walking becomes painful and everyday life if affected?

Why not intervene earlier – and with greater attention to both function and aesthetics?

I wanted to close precisely this gap. That is why I pursued further specialisations in foot surgery and founded ARS PEDIS in 2009 – Germany’s first private practice dedicated to aesthetic and reconstructive foot surgery.

Since then, I have combined modern foot surgery with the precision and possibilities of plastic surgery: refined incision techniques, discreet scarring whenever possible, and a trained eye for the overall aesthetic appearance of the foot.

Whether the condition is misaligned toes, bunions, the results of previous surgeries, or simply the feeling of no longer being comfortable with the appearance of your feet – I take the time to listen carefully and develop an individual treatment approach.

My goal is to not only help you walk more comfortably, but also to help you feel confident I your feet again.

The course of treatment

The course of
treatment

Step 01

Initial consultation

Whether your concerns are related to pain or the appearance of your feet, we begin with a detailed consultation to understand your individual situation. You will receive an honest assessment of whether treatment is appropriate and how we may be able to help.

Step 02

Personalised Treatment Plan

If you decide to proceed with the treatment, we will develop a tailored treatment plan together. You will receive detailed information about the surgical technique, type of anaesthesia, recovery process, aftercare, and expected costs – so you know exactly what to expect at every stage.

Step 03

The surgery

At least one day before surgery, you will visit the practice for a personal examination and final pre-operative discussion.

The procedure itself takes place on the scheduled treatment day and usually lasts between one and three hours, depending on the complexity of the surgery.

Afterwards, you will receive specialised post-operative shoes and insoles, allowing you to be mobile again immediately after the procedure.

Where will the surgery take place?

The ARS PEDIS practice is located in the heart of Düsseldorf – right on the internationally renowned Königsallee.

This is where we will welcome you in a calm atmosphere – far from the cold impersonality of a typical clinic. All procedures are performed in our practice’s operating room. This reduces the need for long-distance travel and ensures you have a dedicated point of contact at all times, from the initial consultation to aftercare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I have already had foot surgery, but I am unhappy with the results. Can anything still be done?

Yes. We regularly treat patients who are dissatisfied with the outcome of a previous procedure. Whether your concerns are functional, aesthetic, or both, corrective treatment is often possible and can significantly improve both comfort and appearance.

The best way to understand your options is through a personal consultation.

How long will recovery take after the surgery?

Recovery time depends on the procedure and the demands of your daily routine.

If you work from home, you may often return to work after just a few days, provided you can keep your foot elevated regularly. If your job requires prolonged standing or walking, you should generally allow between two to six weeks for recovery.

If medically necessary, we will of course provide the appropriate medical certificate.

Will my health insurance cover the costs?

Pure aesthetic foot surgeries are generally considered self-pay services and are usually not covered by health insurance.

However, if there is a medical indication, private health insurance will often cover a large proportion of the treatment costs.

We are happy to clarify your individual options in advance.

How much does a consultation cost?

Your initial consultation includes a detailed medical assessment, regardless of whether you decide to proceed with treatment.

A consultation fee applied, with the amount depending on whether the appointment takes place by telephone, video consultation, or in person at our practice. Fees generally range from €30 to €100.

Can I still visit your practice if I have public health insurance?

Yes, of course. The ARS PEDIS practice is a private practice, but patients with public insurance are also welcome.

In this care, consultation and treatment costs are usually paid privately by the patient. However, medically necessary procedures may often be tax-deductible as “extraordinary expense.”

I already have a surgery scheduled elsewhere. Can I still get a second opinion from you?

Of course. Many patients come to us to get an independent second opinion before a planned surgery. We take our time for your questions and give you an honest assessment.

What if I'm afraid of pain?

Your concern is understandable – and that's precisely why you'll receive a pain management plan tailored to you. You'll get all the necessary medications and a clear dosage schedule to keep discomfort to a minimum.

Will I need general anaesthesia?

Not necessarily. Many procedures can be performed comfortably under local anaesthesia. If preferred, light sedation (“twilight sleep”) is also possible. An experienced anaesthesiologist is available for major procedures.

How soon can I walk after surgery?

In most cases, you will be able to stand and walk immediately after surgery using specialist post-operative shoes and insoles that we provide. However, it is important to rest and keep weight bearing to a minimum during the first few days in order to minimise swelling and support healing.

Wil there be visible scars?

We use refined surgical techniques designed to keep scarring as discreet as possible. Whenever appropriate, incisions are placed along the sides of the foot or within natural skin folds.

Our goal is always to achieve a result that feels both medically and aesthetically satisfying.

What happends if I have questions after the surgery?

For patients travelling from further away, aftercare can often be coordinated with your local physician so that unnecessary travel is avoided.

At the same time, we remain available throughout your recovery and are always happy to answer any questions during the healing process and beyond.
